About Staten island

I live here and I love it. But if you are looking for a vacation no I would not stay here. I would stay in Manhattan and suck it up with the high prices. To stay in Manhattan is better because their is much more to do there. Its not worth the savings because the traveling will eat up the cost and not to mention time.

VISITING NEW YORK

Visited NYC for the first time in April.....loved it, spent about $400/night for my hotel ( not top notch either ) in Manhattan UWS. Looking to come back in early September for the Komen Race for Cure and this time bring my husband & son.

Are hotels cheaper, nicer, better on Staten Island ? Is it feasible to visit the city and stay on Staten Island or should I just suck it up and cough up the $$$.

Thanks for any advice / info. I am from the suburbs of Orlando---we are used to really inexpensive hotels down here. Kind of in shock when we go to a real city...
