HOMESICK for the Island

Even though I was born here in VA, I lived most of my life in Staten Island and I refer to the Island as home.
My grandson is suppose to graduate from high school today and his father, my son, promised he would send money for a bus ticket so I could come up for the event but I have not heard from my son nor received the money for the ticket and I am so hurt because I really wanted to be there for my grandson and also to see my dear old hometown once more. So I sit here at the computer looking up everything Staten Island in hopes it will help me with the disappointment and homesickness |
I just read your post 5 1/2 months later and feel bad reading your story. Did you eventually hear from your son and got the ticket to come up here to SI? Lots changed here in the island too and got lots crowded too but still nice just to give you an idea what's happening here. I was thinking if you want to have great real time views of Staten Island streets, go to http://map.google.com Also there is http://www.googleearth.com and you have to download free and you can view rooftops only and land space. It's great like you're really there with the map google. You just have to type an address in the search box and it will find it. You get a view like you're standing in front of the house. You can expand the picture too. If you need any help using it I can help you.
